Seed Varieties
Quarry Seed is dedicated to measuring the economics of a crop inputs against the potential yield that can be achieved. Producers need to make sound decisions when purchasing crop inputs, ensuring that what they are using is having a positive effect on the crop.
We are committed to keeping abreast of the latest agronomic developments. By providing that information to the producer it will assist them to make the best decisions, from seeding to harvest, to maximize profits and eliminate unnecessary costs.
We study top producing seeds and inputs through our own plot trials and others in the Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and Mid-Western United States. This process allows us to pass on the best quality information and suggestions to the grower.
Quarry Seed is growing from year to year. We are always available to discuss with the producer or end-user the most suited methods for a variety of crops.
The Quarry Seed lineup of products includes:

Our partner Roundup Ready® soybean companies:
What is the Roundup Ready® Soybean Advantage?
- Newer Varieties are being developed with lower heat unit ratings: The Western Canadian marketplace demands a variety in the 2300 - 2550 CHU range. Our varieties are in this range with high performance yields.
- Easy to incorporate into your cropping plan & rotation: Roundup Ready® Soybeans provide an option for crop rotation. Being Roundup Ready ® there is no residual herbicide the following year. Volunteer soybeans usually do not overwinter therefore not creating a problem the next year. Also, soybeans leave residual nitrogen in the soil to enhance next years crop.
- Non GMO soybean crop can develop weed problems the following year and herbicide costs can add up quickly: Roundup® offers the ability to clean up your fields at relatively low cost without sacrificing yield.
- Marketing GMO soybeans in Manitoba is no longer an issue: Many companies now buy GMO soybeans and ship them to crush markets. Better yet, ask Quarry Grain to assist you on your marketing. We export to top-notch processors in the U.S. with North Dakota Grain Inspectors on-site therefore never having guesswork on your final settlement.
- Our Roundup Ready® soybeans have been developed with many strong agronomic traits: Iron Chlorosis Resistance gene & small seed size (lowering input cost), Phytophthora gene, shatter resistance, and strong standability.
We encourage our growers to use Monsanto Roundup® (and not other trade glyphosate products) to ensure quality performance results from your Roundup Ready® Soybeans.
If you choose to plant seed with Roundup Ready® technology you are obligated to use this seed source for growing one single crop. Patented technologies cannot lawfully be saved or resold as seed for replanting your own or others' crops. Preserving these technology patents will help ensure that new technology will be developed as future tools soybean growers can benefit from using.
